For the first time in history, the majority of online content is not created by humans. This report presents verified data on the scale of AI-generated video, fabricated articles, and bot-driven traffic and why iLens exists.
Last updated: April 2026 · Sources: Imperva · Graphite · Reuters Institute · Zebracat · Ahrefs · arXiv
In Q1 2024, roughly 4% of online video was AI-generated. By Q1 2026, that figure has reached an estimated 68% driven by Sora, Runway, Pika, Kling, Luma, and thousands of smaller generators producing over 22,000 videos per day. Real human-produced video is now the minority.
Across all online content types video, articles, social posts, and new web pages the majority is now machine-generated. The "Dead Internet Theory" is no longer a theory. The data confirms it.
This is not an abstract threat. AI-fabricated video has already been used in criminal cases, political disinformation campaigns, and financial fraud. The legal and journalistic systems were built for a world where video was presumed authentic. That assumption is now wrong.
Every statistic in this report is sourced from peer-reviewed research, industry studies, or independently verified platform data. No projections without a named source.
